New Jersey S1048 makes juveniles eligible for waiver to adult criminal court for certain criminal homicide offenses regardless of age.

New Jersey S1048 amends existing law to make juveniles eligible for waiver to adult criminal court for certain criminal homicide offenses regardless of age. Previously, only juveniles aged 15 and older charged with such offenses could be considered for waiver. This bill removes the age restriction, allowing any juvenile charged with specified criminal homicide offenses to be waived to adult court. The Youth Justice Commission will collect and analyze data on these waivers, and the Attorney General may develop guidelines for county prosecutors to ensure uniform application of the law.
