S.1022

Establishes special license plates for honorably discharged veterans.

Introduced·1/9/24

New Jersey S1022 establishes special license plates for honorably discharged veterans.

New Jersey S1022 authorizes the Chief Administrator of the New Jersey Motor Vehicle Commission to issue distinctive license plates to honorably discharged veterans. The plates must bear the word "Veteran" and the branch of military service insignia. Surviving spouses of deceased veterans can also retain these plates. The bill requires a $15 application fee, in addition to normal registration fees, to cover the cost of producing the plates. The chief administrator must notify motorists of this opportunity and promulgate rules governing the issuance and use of these plates.
