Proposed constitutional amendment to prohibit eminent domain for active farmland.

This bill proposes a constitutional amendment to prohibit the use of eminent domain to take active farmland for non-farming uses. Eminent domain allows the government to take private property for public purposes, provided fair compensation is paid. The amendment would prevent this power from being used to take farmland for non-farming purposes. However, it would allow taking farmland if the property is permanently restricted for farming uses. The amendment would apply to the State, counties, municipalities, school districts, and local public entities.
