New Jersey ACR84 proposes a constitutional amendment to reduce property assessments for home improvements providing senior living quarters for relatives. The amendment would require a tax assessor to reduce the assessed value of a homestead property by the amount of any increase resulting from construction or reconstruction for the purpose of providing senior living quarters for one or more natural or adoptive parents, grandparents, aunts, or uncles of the owner or the owner's spouse, provided at least one of the relatives is 62 years of age or older.
