Introduced Text

Proposed constitutional amendment to extend property tax deduction to Gold Star families.

This bill proposes a constitutional amendment to allow Gold Star families to receive the same property tax deduction as veterans. Gold Star families are defined as the parent, sibling, child, legal guardian, or legal custodian of a service member who died on active duty or from injuries sustained on active duty. The deduction would be equal to the current $250 annual deduction for honorably discharged veterans. Only one deduction would be allowed per family, with priority among eligible family members to be determined by law.
