New Jersey ACR34 proposes a constitutional amendment to limit the number of successive years members of the General Assembly can serve to 12. This limit would apply to any member currently in office, but years served before the amendment is adopted would not count toward the limit. The amendment would allow a member serving at the end of the 12th year to complete their term. The proposal would be submitted to voters at the next general election occurring more than three months after the amendment is agreed upon.
