The New Jersey legislature applies to Congress for an Article V Convention of States to propose amendments to the U.S. Constitution. These amendments would impose fiscal restraints on the federal government, limit its power and jurisdiction, and restrict the terms of office for federal officials and members of Congress. This application will remain in effect until at least two-thirds of the states make similar applications.
