Introduced Text

New Jersey ACR17 proposes a constitutional amendment requiring the Legislature to meet four times annually to vote on property tax relief bills.

This bill proposes an amendment to the New Jersey Constitution to mandate that each house of the Legislature convenes four times a year to vote on bills providing property tax relief. The Legislature would pass a law to designate a person or entity to certify which bills qualify as property tax relief. Certified bills must lower property taxes and cannot increase revenue. The second house must vote on a bill certified as providing property tax relief within 60 days of its passage in the first house.
