New Jersey ACR11 proposes a constitutional amendment to allow municipalities to offer partial property tax exemptions to certain first responders.

New Jersey ACR11 proposes a constitutional amendment authorizing municipalities to provide a partial property tax exemption for the primary residence of certain first responders. Eligible individuals include police officers, firefighters, and emergency medical technicians who are disabled due to a medical condition related to their presence at the World Trade Center site following the 9/11 terrorist attack. The exemption would cover the first 15 percent of the assessed value of the residential property. The amendment requires the Legislature to pass a law permitting the exemption.
