Increases fines for failing to report suspected abuse or exploitation of institutionalized elderly person.

This bill increases the fine for a person required to report suspected abuse or exploitation of an institutionalized elderly person, who fails to make a report, from not more than $500 to not more than $1,500. It also increases the fine for the facility that employs the person from not more than $2,500 to not more than $5,000. The bill mandates that a letter noting the penalty be sent by the court to the licensing authority or professional board having jurisdiction over the penalized person. The act takes effect immediately.
