New Jersey A813 requires DMVA to help discharged service members with service-connected mental health conditions petition to change their discharge.

New Jersey A813 mandates the Department of Military and Veterans Affairs (DMVA) to assist discharged service members diagnosed with a service-connected mental health condition in petitioning to change their discharge designation to honorable. This bill expands existing assistance to include those diagnosed with a service-connected mental health condition. Former service members who successfully change their discharge designation will be eligible for the same rights, privileges, and benefits as those who were honorably discharged.
