Introduced Text

Clarifies procedures for revocation of pretrial release for certain defendants in New Jersey.

This bill amends the procedures for revocation of pretrial release for certain defendants in New Jersey. It specifies that a court may not revoke an eligible defendant's release and order detention based solely on marijuana-related offenses. The bill also allows for temporary detention of a defendant who violates a condition of pretrial release or commits a new crime while on release. A risk assessment with recommendations on the conditions of release must be prepared for such defendants.
