New Jersey A785 allows marriage or civil union licenses to be obtained in any municipality in the state.
New Jersey A785 amends the state's marriage and civil union laws to allow a marriage or civil union license to be obtained in any municipality within the state, as long as the marriage or civil union is to be performed in New Jersey. Previously, the license could only be issued in the municipality where either party resided or, if neither party was a resident, in the municipality where the marriage or civil union was to be performed. The bill directs the Commissioner of the Department of Health to adopt necessary rules and regulations to implement this change.
