The bill increases the penalties for unlawfully manufacturing, distributing, or dispensing fentanyl in New Jersey. It aligns the penalties for fentanyl with those for heroin or cocaine under current law. Specifically, manufacturing, distributing, or dispensing fentanyl in a quantity of five ounces or more would be a crime of the first degree, punishable by a term of imprisonment of 10 to 20 years or a fine of up to $500,000, or both.
