New Jersey A662 mandates that public utilities compensate business customers for financial losses incurred when their operations cease due to utility repairs or replacements on the customer's property. This reimbursement does not apply to interruptions caused by emergency events, defined as natural or human-caused occurrences beyond the utility's control. Utilities are prohibited from recovering the reimbursement costs from ratepayers. The Board of Public Utilities determines the reimbursement amount based on documentation from the business customer.
