Exempts law enforcement body worn camera recordings from disclosure under New Jersey's open public records law if requested for a commercial purpose.
This bill amends New Jersey's open public records law to exempt law enforcement body worn camera recordings from disclosure if the recording is requested for a commercial purpose. The term "commercial purpose" is defined as the direct or indirect use of any part of a government record for sale, resale, solicitation, rent, or lease of a service or any use by which the user expects a profit either through commission, salary, or fee. The exemption does not apply to the use of a government record for any purpose by the news media, or any parent company, subsidiary, or affiliate of any news media.
