New Jersey A547 requires the Department of Environmental Protection (DEP) to identify reservoirs with a documented record of flooding. For each identified reservoir, the DEP must study and assess the downstream river or stream capacity, water storage capacity, and water usage needs of the residents and businesses served. The bill mandates that reservoir owners prepare and submit a flood action plan to the DEP, which must include the design, construction, operation, and maintenance of flood gates.
