New Jersey A5266 mandates school districts to provide daily recess and lunch periods for students in grades K-8.

New Jersey A5266 requires school districts to provide a daily recess period of at least 20 minutes for students in grades kindergarten through eight. This extends the current requirement for grades K-5. Additionally, the bill mandates a daily lunch period of at least 30 seated minutes for students in grades K-8 on full-day school sessions. The recess period must be outdoors if feasible, and students cannot be denied recess more than twice per week, except for violations of the student conduct code or on shortened school days.
