Authorizes school districts to award alternate high school diploma to students with disabilities.
New Jersey A5255 allows school districts to award an alternate high school diploma to students with the most significant cognitive disabilities who participate in the New Jersey Alternate Assessment Program. The alternate diploma is standards-based and aligned with the credit requirements for a State-endorsed diploma. Students must obtain the alternate diploma by the end of the school year in which they turn 21.
