New Jersey A5226 mandates enrollment of eligible employees in the lowest-cost health plan if they do not select or waive coverage.
New Jersey A5226 requires employees eligible for the State Health Benefits Program or School Employees’ Health Benefits Program to be automatically enrolled in the lowest-cost health plan if they do not select or waive coverage. The Evaluation Committee, with oversight from the Division of Purchase and Property, determines the lowest-cost plan before each plan year and may adjust this during the year. If no plan is found to be the lowest cost for both members and the employer, employees are enrolled in the lowest-cost plan for the employer. This act takes effect immediately.
