Introduced Text

New Jersey A5151 prohibits surcharge on transportation network company riders for certain paratransit service.

New Jersey A5151 prohibits the imposition of a surcharge on transportation network company riders for prearranged rides that provide paratransit service. The bill exempts these riders from the surcharge, which is otherwise set at $0.50 for non-shared rides and $0.25 for shared rides. The surcharge is collected by the transportation network company and must be separately stated on the electronic receipt provided to the rider. The bill also exempts transportation network companies arranging prearranged rides for paratransit service from personal liability for these rides.
