New Jersey A514 expands eligibility for NJ STARS scholarships to include students who receive equivalent instruction outside of traditional schools.

New Jersey A514 amends the NJ STARS Program to include students who receive equivalent instruction outside of traditional schools, such as home-schooled students. Under the bill, a NJ STARS scholarship will be available for the first year of enrollment in a county college for students meeting academic achievement criteria as determined by the Higher Education Student Assistance Authority. The scholarship covers the full cost of tuition for up to 18 credit hours in any semester, subject to the prior application of other grants and scholarships.
