New Jersey A5116 modifies the requirements for licensure in marriage and family therapy. It allows applicants with a master’s degree to apply up to 300 hours of client contact earned during their master’s degree towards the experience requirements. Applicants with a post-master’s or doctoral degree must complete one of the two years of full-time supervised marriage and family therapy experience after obtaining their degree. The bill also reduces the required supervised experience from three years to two years.
