The Garden State Balcony Solar Act exempts portable solar generation devices from interconnection, net metering, and other requirements. It prohibits electric utilities from requiring approval, fees, or additional equipment for these devices and shields utilities from liability for customer use. The Department of Community Affairs must update construction codes to guide wiring and home modifications for these devices.
