Introduced Text

New Jersey A4679 expands the duties of licensed practical nurses and patient care technicians in dialysis centers.

New Jersey A4679 allows licensed practical nurses (LPNs) in dialysis centers to conduct pre- and post-dialysis assessments that do not require intervention from a registered professional nurse. Patient care technicians (PCTs) would be permitted to administer saline and heparin to dialysis patients, tasks currently prohibited under state regulations. The Commissioner of Health is directed to adopt rules and regulations consistent with the provisions of this bill.
