Expands eligibility for expungement of criminal records in New Jersey.

This bill amends eligibility for expungement of criminal records in New Jersey. It allows individuals convicted of more than one third or fourth-degree crime to petition for expungement if they demonstrate clear and convincing evidence of rehabilitation. The court may consider factors such as the nature and seriousness of the crimes, circumstances, date, age, social conditions, and evidence of rehabilitation. The bill excludes certain serious crimes, sex offenses, and convictions involving public office or employment from expungement eligibility.
