Resident school districts can choose to pay parents of county vocational school pupils instead of providing transportation.
This bill allows resident school districts to provide annual payments in-lieu-of transportation to parents of county vocational school district pupils. Currently, school districts must provide transportation for pupils who live more than two and one-half miles from the school. Under this bill, districts may instead give parents a payment. This option applies to pupils attending the Marine Academy of Science and Technology as well.
