Introduced Text

New Jersey A4402 requires fire districts, school districts, and county governments to share in the burden of property assessment appeal refunds.

New Jersey A4402 mandates that fire districts, school districts, and county governments share in the burden of property assessment appeal refunds. Currently, only the county shares this burden with municipalities. The bill requires the municipal tax collector to apportion the total amount of property tax appeal refunds among the municipality, county, school district, fire districts, and any other taxing districts. The municipal tax collector must send a notice to these entities, detailing their pro rata share of the refunds.
