Under current law, a person may be admitted into drug court if the person was convicted of a crime that has a presumption of incarceration or a mandatory minimum period of parole ineligibility and if the person also meets certain eligibility criteria. This bill permits juveniles to be admitted into special probation, which is commonly referred to as the drug court program, under certain circumstances.
