Prohibits SHBP, SEHBP, and Medicaid from denying coverage for chronic condition medications due to changes in health benefits plans or pharmacy.

This bill prohibits the State Health Benefits Program, School Employees’ Health Benefits Program, and Medicaid from denying coverage for maintenance medications for chronic conditions if the denial results solely from a change in the health benefits plan or pharmacy benefits manager. The prohibition applies if the covered person was taking the medication prior to the change and if the new plan or manager provides coverage for that class of drugs. The act takes effect seven months after enactment and applies to contracts issued or renewed on or after that date.
