New Jersey A4241 mandates inclusion of a police misconduct training course in the basic training curriculum for law enforcement officers.

New Jersey A4241 requires the Police Training Commission to develop or identify course materials on police misconduct to be included in the basic training curriculum for law enforcement officers. The course is to be taught by an instructor with an advanced degree in sociology or a related field. It will cover real-life examples of police brutality and excessive force, the impact of bias in policing, and the consequences of poor policing. Successful completion of the course will provide three credits towards the total credit requirement of the basic training curriculum.
