Introduced Text

New Jersey A4194 prohibits employers from requiring parents of school-aged children to be physically present at work when remote work is possible.

New Jersey A4194 provides employment protections for working parents during a public health emergency that results in school closures. It makes it an unlawful employment practice for an employer to require a parent or legal guardian of a school-aged child to be physically present for work if the work can be performed remotely. This protection applies unless the employer can demonstrate that allowing the employee to work remotely would be an undue hardship on business operations.
