Requires certain doctors and nurses to ask patients about menstrual cycles, tampon use, and toxic shock syndrome.
Under this bill, nurse practitioners and physicians who practice in family medicine, general obstetrics, or gynecology must ask female patients with symptoms of influenza or viral gastroenteritis about their menstrual cycles and tampon use. They must also inform patients about signs and symptoms of toxic shock syndrome and offer testing if the patient has an active menstrual cycle, used a tampon, and began experiencing symptoms while using the tampon or soon thereafter. The Commissioner of Health may adopt rules and regulations to implement this act.
