A4052

Eliminates certain practice restrictions for advanced practice nurses.

Introduced·2/12/26

Eliminates certain practice restrictions for advanced practice nurses in New Jersey.

The bill eliminates practice restrictions for advanced practice nurses (APNs) in New Jersey, allowing them to prescribe medications, administer anesthesia, and manage substance use disorder treatments without a joint protocol with a collaborating physician. APNs with more than 24 months or 2,400 hours of practice can practice independently. The bill also revises requirements for APNs to authorize patients for medical cannabis and issue written instructions for medical cannabis.
