A4048

Requires notification to members of health club if club is to be sold and health club services contract assigned to new owner.

Introduced·2/12/26

New Jersey A4048 mandates health clubs to notify members if the club is sold and the contract is assigned to a new owner.

New Jersey A4048 modifies health club services contracts by requiring health clubs to obtain written consent from members before assigning their contracts to a new owner. This consent can be provided electronically and must be separate from the contract. The health club must also inform members of the ownership transfer date. If a health club closes for over 30 days without fault from the contract holder, the contract holder can either extend the contract or receive a prorated refund.
