New Jersey A3716 requires rental car companies to inform renters to remove personal devices and delete personal information from the vehicle's computer system when returning the car. The notice must be posted at the return area, and can also be included on the company's website or rental agreement. Violators face civil penalties of $500 for a first offense and $1,000 for subsequent offenses, enforced by the Director of the Division of Consumer Affairs.
