New Jersey A3670 allows large food waste generators to send food waste to sanitary landfill facilities for renewable energy production.
New Jersey A3670 modifies existing law to authorize large food waste generators to send their food waste to sanitary landfill facilities for the purpose of generating Class I renewable energy or renewable natural gas. This change applies to generators not located within 25 road miles of an authorized food waste recycling facility or if the facility will not accept their waste. The Department of Environmental Protection will establish rules and regulations, including record-keeping and reporting requirements, standards for food waste recycling, and procedures for waivers.
