New Jersey A3596 establishes a special enrollment period for policyholders when their in-network health care provider leaves the network.

New Jersey A3596 mandates the establishment of a special enrollment period for individuals whose in-network health care provider leaves the network of their health benefits plan during their policy period. The Department of Banking and Insurance will determine the duration of this enrollment period, which will not be shorter than 30 days. The carrier must then communicate information about this enrollment period to the affected individuals. This act will take effect 90 days after its enactment and apply to policies and contracts delivered, issued, executed, or renewed on or after that date.
