Introduced Text

New Jersey A3584 allows Government Records Council staff attorneys to adjudicate complaints about denied access to government records.

New Jersey A3584 amends the duties of the Government Records Council (GRC) to include allowing staff attorneys to adjudicate complaints about denied access to government records. The GRC will continue to hear appeals of staff attorney decisions. The bill aims to address the backlog of complaints by enabling staff attorneys to regularly handle complaints, as recommended by the Office of the State Comptroller. The GRC will also maintain its mediation program and other duties under the open public records act.
