Increases FY 2025 Grants-in-Aid appropriation to DCA for NJSHARES - S.M.A.R.T. Program by $5 million.
This bill amends the FY 2025 Appropriations Act to increase the Grants-in-Aid appropriation to the Department of Community Affairs (DCA) for the NJSHARES - S.M.A.R.T. Program by $5 million, from $5.5 million to $10.5 million. The additional funds will be used to provide utility payment assistance to homeowners and tenants of residential property throughout the State suffering financial difficulties. The commissioner is directed to design and establish program criteria and guidelines to award grants to eligible homeowners and tenants in an expeditious manner.
