Firefighters employed by these entities on the effective date of the act, who were not eligible for PFRS at the time of appointment but meet PFRS's definition of "fireman" and are enrolled in PERS, can transfer memberships. The State will not be liable for additional costs incurred by local employers due to these transfers.
