New Jersey A3453 amends the duties of the Corrections Ombudsperson to include reviewing criminal investigations conducted by the Department of Corrections or the Special Investigations Division. The ombudsperson must inspect, examine, and analyze all aspects of these investigations to ensure they were accurate, unbiased, and thorough. This review excludes ongoing investigations, certain confidential information, and Special Investigations Division evidence rooms. The ombudsperson must also inform inmates about the status and estimated completion time of these reviews.
