Introduced Text

End Tesla Exception Act repeals statute permitting Tesla and other zero emission vehicle manufacturers to sell vehicles directly to consumers.

The End Tesla Exception Act repeals section 6 of P.L.2015, c.24 (C.56:10-27.1), which allowed certain motor vehicle manufacturers, including Tesla, to directly buy from or sell to consumers a zero emission motor vehicle. This statute provided an exception to the requirement that motor vehicle sales in this State occur through franchised dealerships.
