Limits increases to certain recurring fees charged to residential tenant.
This bill limits the amount a landlord can increase recurring fees charged to a residential tenant. Over a 12-month period, a landlord cannot increase these fees by more than 10 percent over the amount charged during the preceding 12-month period. Recurring fees include charges for amenities, pets, parking, and other similar costs chargeable on a recurring basis to a tenant. The bill also allows tenants to petition a court to terminate a lease if a landlord violates the fee increase limit. The bill takes effect immediately.
