New Jersey A3399 allows certain noncitizen teachers to be eligible for tenure.
New Jersey A3399 amends state law to permit certain noncitizen teachers to be eligible for tenure. This change repeals sections that previously prohibited noncitizens from acquiring tenure. Teachers holding a noncitizen teaching certificate who meet tenure requirements can now be eligible. For teachers already employed on the effective date of this bill, their prior teaching services count towards tenure. This act takes effect immediately.
