New Jersey A3379 increases penalties for drag racing and provides for vehicle impoundment on third or subsequent offenses.

New Jersey A3379 amends the state's motor vehicle penalties by increasing fines for drag racing on public highways. A first offense now carries a fine between $100 and $200, while a second offense incurs a fine between $200 and $300. For a third or subsequent offense, the vehicle is impounded for at least 96 hours. The vehicle may be reclaimed by the owner upon showing proof of registration and insurance and paying all associated fees and costs.
