Introduced Text

Eliminates salary reference for retired PERS members returning to teaching positions.

This bill removes a salary threshold for retired members of the Public Employees' Retirement System (PERS) who return to employment in teaching staff positions with a public institution of higher education. Under current law, the cancellation and re-enrollment requirement does not apply to a former member who becomes employed again by a public institution of higher education in a teaching staff position. The bill ensures that the cancellation, re-enrollment, and additional retirement allowance provisions do not apply to these retirees, regardless of their annual compensation.
