The bill, named "Monica's Law," mandates the development of an evidence-based risk assessment instrument by the Attorney General and an evidence-based guide of risk considerations by the Administrative Office of the Courts. These tools will assist law enforcement, courts, and Batterer’s Intervention Programs in domestic violence cases. In custody and parenting time proceedings, if a parent asserts safety concerns due to the other parent's violent or threatening behavior, the court must temporarily suspend or restrict parenting time and order the concerned parent to complete a parenting time.
