New Jersey A3297 mandates financial institutions to remove lead water service lines from foreclosed properties.

New Jersey A3297 requires financial institutions that have foreclosed on a property to replace all lead water service lines on the property that are not owned and the responsibility of the appropriate utility service. This bill aims to prevent continuous exposure to lead from privately owned lead water service lines, which is particularly harmful to children and infants. The act applies to all properties on which financial institutions foreclose on or after the date of enactment.
