A329

Requires juvenile charged with delinquent act to be prosecuted in county where incident giving rise to complaint occurred.

Introduced·1/13/26
Introduced Text

Juvenile charged with delinquent act must be prosecuted in the county where the incident occurred.

This bill amends New Jersey law to require that a juvenile charged with a delinquent act be prosecuted in the county where the incident giving rise to the complaint occurred. Currently, if the juvenile is domiciled in a different county, the case may be moved to the county of the juvenile's domicile unless the court finds good cause to retain venue in the county of the incident. This change ensures that prosecution takes place in the county where the alleged offense happened.
